Question: Ever considered Android? So much of iOS philosophy seems contrary to (what I can infer of) yours

I've used some Android phones and it has its own set of problems... if someone made a nice, open, and not terrible Linux phone I'd be game though.

Question: Thanks for answering the previous question. I was really into something 3 days ago and now I just don't want to do anything, with your kind of progress I'm doubting it's happened much to you? HOW do you snap out of it, it's not lazy but more of a focus issue... any info on this?

Question: I'm doing a CS program and trying to learn some audio programming on the side. For practice, i'm going to make a web calculator app that contains useful converters/calculators for music and audio programming. Do you have any ideas for things to include? I.e. things you frequently find yourself referencing that a noob like me wouldn't know to think of.

Question: Will you ever make a new music player like Winamp? Thank you! Listening from Winamp since 1998, when I was about to become a programmer, lot of inspiration from your work dude!
Asked by striker_gt (186.103.201.x) on March 2 2018, 8:18pm
Reply on March 3 2018, 2:22pm:
I'd never say never, but I don't have any plans! I have wanted a better player for my iphone though, the apple music app drives me nuts. Also being able to sync music/share music wirelessly with friends from the phone would be really nice. Having to keep one computer synched with my phone and not being able to manage the library from the phone is lame...

Question: Could you elaborate on designing a sequencer, how to design where the playhead meets a sample in order to play it? Is this information stored in a list and the gui follows this? I'm not quite understanding how to relate the two.
Asked by Sam2short (67.21.182.x) on March 1 2018, 2:54pm
Reply on March 3 2018, 2:21pm:
That's a pretty open ended question, specific questions are probably easier to deal with... but anyway, audio is processed in blocks. When you want to render a block of audio for a track, you scan the list of items in the track for items that intersect the block (maybe caching the index of the first item that matches, to speed up subsequent blocks), then render those items and sum the results...

I skimmed that article, which seems to sound like a comb filter. There are FIR filters and IIR filters which are typically used in EQs. IIR filters are generally a lot more efficient...

Question: does the reaper plugin build of licecap work?
Asked by oli larkin (161.112.12.x) on February 15 2018, 4:17pm
Reply on February 16 2018, 1:55am (edited at February 16 2018, 1:56am):
You tell me! At one point the idea was that it would be nice to use the video encoder and audio output to generate .webm/etc... but then decided it was easier to record .lcf with standalone licecap, and save REAPER's output and then render to .webm later.
