Question: What build system do you use for Reaper? Did the build system automatically create XCode projects for you?
Asked by Deep Sharma (71.187.245.x) on April 16 2018, 3:59am
Reply on April 16 2018, 1:46pm:
We use manually-created xcode projects, VS projects, and makefiles, and some PHP scripts for automatic builds/disk image generation (plus NSIS and a few custom utilities on the win32 build side).

Question: Reaper being so customizable, I always wondered how do you handle this ever growing complexity in your code?? I rarely see any serious regression bugs in Reaper development, which is IMO incredible.

They definitely happen, though hopefully most of the time they are not catastrophic, and don’t survive prerelease testing. But even so, they do. Just fixed one this morning that broke in 5.50. Bit of a corner case, but still...

Question: Are the tracks you create that mean the most to you also the ones that resonate with your fans? Or is it a "hit or miss" thing, more random than formulaic? just curious to hear a fellow renaissance man's perspective ;)

Question: What is your favourite Mexican food?
Asked by Albi (200.68.142.x) on April 10 2018, 7:58pm
Reply on April 10 2018, 11:26pm:
Hmm I really like all Mexican food, but I guess I'm loyal towards the stuff from Sonora and Baja. Some Mexico City style places are good too. As far as dishes go, hmm, so many choices. Chilaquiles are good, and I love tacos. But really anything with some rice and beans is great.

I don't use the MIDI wire protocol (e.g. 5 pin DIN cables) except when testing various things. USB MIDI I use for controllers for my live performance super8 setup. I rarely use virtual instruments in my compositions these days, though sometimes.

Question: Have you ever had a disagreement with a coworker on a project that escalated to a personal level and/or got loud?
Asked by Will (23.125.224.x) on April 4 2018, 1:23am
Reply on April 4 2018, 1:28am (edited at April 4 2018, 1:29am):
I don't think so. I've definitely found some (most?) people difficult to work with in general, but I don't think it was ever about a particular instance (which is usually pretty recoverable if both parties are reasonable and/or don't take things too seriously). In any case it hasn't gotten loud that I can recall...
