Ahh. On linux it's very easy (opening the devices as files, though probably you'd want to use them in asynchronous modes).. And on Windows you can use CreateFile() and ReadFile()/WriteFile() (also in asynchronous, aka overlapped, modes). Comment...

Question: Is eel optimize generated native code?

It generates native code, and while it's a lot faster than interpreted code, it is far from optimal. I'd say worst case it runs around 25% speed, best case closer to 70% speed, depending on how it is programmed and what kind of work it is doing. Comment...
