I'd say 33ms or lower -- the frequency at which you would reasonably expect any UI updates to happen (30Hz minimum, 60Hz would be nice too).

Hah well I dunno I suppose I self-select there. While there are differences with small groups of people on some things, I can't think of anything that I differ with when compared to a majority of my associates.

Reading about the WhatsApp founders leaving Facebook, I'm curious ... from someone whose company was acquired for a huge, life changing sum of money where you no long have any need at all to work for the acquiring company, why did you bother showing up at AOL every day?

Question:
Thanks! Do you think high-end laptops, like RMBP and X1 Carbon, are worth its price? They generally cost 2-3x of lower-end ones, so curious if their (claimed) high-qualitiness justify its obvious high cost.
Asked by fujimotos (153.236.245.x) on April 30 2018, 5:47am
Reply on April 30 2018, 3:22pm:
I'm very happy with the RMBP (though it is the older pre-touchbar-era one, I got it a couple of years ago refurb off of woot or somewhere like that). Fast quad core and nice GPU and crazy fast SSD, mmm. The X1 I'm less impressed with (for the price).

Reply on April 28 2018, 12:59pm (edited at April 28 2018, 1:00pm):
I have a 2013 RMBP that I mostly use as a desktop with a Thunderbolt display and external kb/mouse. Also in use: a C2D Thinkpad X60 running Debian for Super8 sessions, a X1 Carbon (5th gen) for linux dev, and a ASUS C100P ARM chromebook (in dev mode) for travel.
