There are some things difficult to support that way (VST2/VST3 end up as a hybrid open source thing, and ReWire, while not totally relevant today, at one point was important and is not available for open source). Also we wouldn't be able to use elastique... Comment...

Question: Is there any chance of an update or change in the takes function? specifically how it makes a split in the previously recorded media? i think this is basically the only downside to reaper.
