Well obviously ideas/knowledge/concepts should be completely free. As far as copyrighted content, I think that most people who create copyrighted content generally are pretty reasonable about the policies of its distribution. Aggregators of content are less reasonable, typically, which isn't ideal.

My point is that I would imagine most authors would be fine with people reading their articles for free.
