I have read that at least 6 GB RAM is efficient for 64 bit Windows. 64 bit is for more than 3.5 GB RAM but still it isn't efficient to use it in computers smaller than 6 GB RAM. Multiple clients (awesome!), floating point, aggregate devices, overall winner IMO. ASIO: pretty easy API, but missing functionality (nobody seems to implement underrun indicators???), and most drivers don't support multiple clients/routing. ALSA: moderately clean API, but hard to get right across various drivers, also programmer responsible for scheduling. No multiple-client support.
