Have you tried Waveform free? What do you think about Tracktion's business model? Are you planning to make old Reaper versions free for everybody? Like version 1 and 2.

I think it's a good idea for those people who can't afford pricey softwares. Just make old versions of a particular software, either free of cost or like 1/10th of the current version's price? Also, some software companies can make their proprietary softwares free for only those who really can't afford or who are students (which doesn't have their own credit card etc.). And they are obliged to purchase it as soon as they have money, otherwise it would be illegal if they still continue using it.
