Question:
what drove you to create reaper and winamp?

I started playing around with music players on DOS a few years before I saw my first mp3 (see: http://1014.org/code/oldbits/DACE/ )... The drive was to listen to music on the computer, since it was cool and mod/xm players were awesome too. I started getting into music and recording in the early 00s, which led to REAPER :)

When did you start early experimental development for code that became Reaper? And what did you use before? Did you ever do music with trackers?

September 2005. Used Logic for Windows and Vegas 4.0 before REAPER. Did (terrible) music with FastTracker II, mostly just played nibbles though
