Question:
Have you ever been sued? We have similar history, and I'm sure you have been through it before; I could use some insight.
Asked by Jordan (76.25.2.x) on March 21 2010, 10:43pm
Reply on March 22 2010, 3:34am (edited at March 22 2010, 4:11am):
Yeah, it sucks. The most recent time (9 or 10 years ago) it was successfully mediated. It felt wrong to give in on principle, but once you find a way to end it that you can stomach, you'll know it's the right thing...
Having said that, you probably want to look at what your gut odds are and assess the risk that way. Anyway...
Of course I'm full of contradictions -- I was just thinking, if someone sued us for a software patent or something, I'd probably take it as my crusade against software patents and try to spend every last dime obliterating them... so anyway.

No idea. AudioUnits are used for the full duplex, I know. Porting EEL2 to ARM would be a pain.

It never got to the point of being sold. I forget the inspiration, mostly it was trying to think of a name that wouldn't already be used.

Question:
I pay for reasonably priced software and donate to quality freeware, but i use cracked expensive software. Am I immoral?
Asked by a person (82.15.1.x) on March 15 2010, 4:10am
Reply on March 17 2010, 8:22pm:
Recently, I read
this by Richard Stallman
.
It makes a lot of sense. By that logic, you're not immoral, however you're relying on the rest of society to pay for your benefit. So I think it's not immoral, as long as you truly can't afford it, otherwise it is greedy. Or something like that.

Which MS APIs are good/suck in your opinion?
Asked by Will (24.234.128.x) on March 12 2010, 7:35pm
Reply on March 17 2010, 8:15pm:
DirectShow is always a pain to deal with. Relating to newish vista/7 stuff, Christophe's likes to compare the taskbar-status API (good) with the newer file open/save dialog API (bad).
