Question: How much of the Reaper source code do you understand and know like the palm of your hand; how much is like a "black box" ?
Asked by James (68.225.40.x) on April 3 2010, 8:06am
Reply on April 7 2010, 3:10pm:
I'd say very little is "black box", though there may be some that I know less well, the stuff written by my coworkers... But generally our styles are all close enough that it's very easy to adapt.

Question: In Reaper, when recording takes, it automatically splits them sometimes. What's the advantage of the automatic splitting?
Asked by spellingmastake (82.15.1.x) on March 31 2010, 12:19pm
Reply on April 7 2010, 3:06pm:
If you record a section of an item, for example if you have an item going from t=0 to t=10, and you record t=2 to t=5, then it'd need to split to add the new recording as a take.

Question: Have you ever been sued? We have similar history, and I'm sure you have been through it before; I could use some insight.
Asked by Jordan (76.25.2.x) on March 21 2010, 10:43pm
Reply on March 22 2010, 3:34am (edited at March 22 2010, 4:11am):
Yeah, it sucks. The most recent time (9 or 10 years ago) it was successfully mediated. It felt wrong to give in on principle, but once you find a way to end it that you can stomach, you'll know it's the right thing...

Having said that, you probably want to look at what your gut odds are and assess the risk that way. Anyway...

Of course I'm full of contradictions -- I was just thinking, if someone sued us for a software patent or something, I'd probably take it as my crusade against software patents and try to spend every last dime obliterating them... so anyway.

No idea. AudioUnits are used for the full duplex, I know. Porting EEL2 to ARM would be a pain.
