Question: Is it OK to reverse engineer the .RPP file format (as much as that term is applicable) to import user-created data from .RPP files into other apps?

    By curiosity, what kind of stuff prevents you from making RPP an open file format? Would it be too much work to maintain? Does the "too much work" part consist only of small weird things that don't come up too often?

    Depends on what you mean by open exactly, but it’s easier and more efficient for us to have it be defined by the implementation and previous implementations
