Question:
How does REAPER implement normalization to LUFs?
Asked by Alison (173.68.72.x) on February 10 2023, 4:51am
Reply on February 10 2023, 5:17pm:
By doing a superset of the LUFS analysis -- in LUFS normally you throw away certain statistical bins, but we keep them around so we can predict how gain changes will affect the LUFS measurement, so that we know how much gain to apply. There's a lot more detail to it obviously but it is noteworthy that LUFS normalizing isn't as simple as "calculate LUFS, apply gain"

Thanks for the response! Do you have any recommended readings for understanding this in more detail?

From what perspective, implementing it, or what the implications are as a user?

Hm, I was thinking of implementing it. But, I suppose the latter would be interesting to me as well!
