Question: Reaper will be very complete in reaper 7. Apart from an Ableton live style window, almost nothing is missing. Isn't the construction of the Reaper castle soon finished :)?

the media is on a NAS and nfs mounted read-only on the linux VM that serves the files via apache. Then there are a number of different ways to access that media via the web, and some javascript that does the playering on my various pages (and WHUMP which is the main music.1014.org interface)...

Question: Just wanted to say a big thank you to you Justin. I'm a seventy-four year old Reaper user. I use Reaper both for composing and for testing new sample libraries for one of the leading developers. I really appreciate all the tools Reaper provides.

Question: How does Reaper encode the TXXX in ID3? It looks like there's 7 bytes between TXXX and the actual content, what do they contain?
Asked by Mespotine (46.114.202.x) on July 16 2023, 7:44pm
Reply on July 16 2023, 9:00pm:
The ID3v2 frame header is 10 bytes total -- 4 bytes (TXXX), 4 bytes size, 2 bytes flags. Then, since it's a text field, there's a byte for text encoding, then the data.

I've only lived in the most expensive, but NYC has a lot to love! Unless you don't like the hot in the summer and the cold in the winter... I lived in the Phoenix area for a bit and I don't like car culture anymore.

Question: The other day bumped into a message in a skins.txt file inside a ReNovator zip achive from '98, it goes as follows: "These are some example skins for Winamp 1.8. We should get a good skin page up on www.winamp.com/skins.html soon, but until then, here's some food. unzip to WinampDirSkins. You can modify files in SkinsBase to create your own skins. Viscolor.txt sets the colors for the vis window. Yay. The rest of the skins are borrowed from various Winamp hacks...ri.bat renames the images if you extract them from a hack using Renovator. -Justin". Does this look like your message?

Question: Quick Fun Puzzle : Given an array of size n, with elements in the range [1, n-1], it contains only one duplicate element example (1,2,2,2,3) , How would you get this duplicate in constant space ?
Asked by zeof (156.195.98.x) on July 9 2023, 4:12am
Reply on July 9 2023, 12:56pm (edited at July 9 2023, 1:02pm):
I assume I can't sort the list because that wouldn't be constant space? Anyway since you don't care about time, the O(N^2) algorithm of checking each element against every later element would be the most obvious way?

Edit: ah, your example confused me, I assume your example is (1,2,2,3) rather than the extra 2? And I also assume (1,3,2,2) would be another valid example (e.g. the list is not necessarily sorted). Anyway there's probably some ways to reduce the complexity of the above search, but since you didn't specify a desired performance characteristic I wouldn't bother!

Question: How do you keep being so productive after all these years? I keep seeing new functionality in REAPER constantly and the pace doesn't seem to be slowing down. Do you use a system or otherwise?

Maybe it's not really THAT productive? A lot of time has passed! Anyway it's a fun project that I use daily so that makes it easier...

Question: I'd really like to see vector graphics implemented. However, before we reach that stage (which might be 10 or so years in the future according to how you responded previously), is it possible to have more gradations in the graphics/pictures resolutions? i.e. instead of the current 100%-150%-200% to also have the levels of 125%-175%-and stretch this up to 400%? In this was we can design themes that act like they are vectorial, but are raster.
Asked by /AND/ (89.205.77.x) on July 7 2023, 6:50pm
Reply on July 8 2023, 1:33pm:
a theme can define whatever scales it likes, 125%, 350%, whatever
