Question: Do you have any plans to add something similar to the Matrix View that is in Sonar? It is a very useful compositional tool and I'm sure you could make it even more functional than the Sonar version.

Would have to take a look at that, which I might do at some point, but not sure.

Question: What's one Reaper feature you personally want, but haven't gotten around to tackling yet for whatever reason, and why not?
Asked by Chris (173.70.123.x) on November 4 2024, 6:46pm
Reply on November 4 2024, 7:58pm:
Pre-receive sends (meaning track media and record input would get sent, but received from other tracks and child tracks would not). Would allow doing tidy routing of multiple midi tracks to a sampler and have their outputs process on the same track as the midi. Haven’t done it yet because it will require a bunch of tricky changes to not break multiprocessing.

also: having track FX process while prebuffering playback start. Huge tricky can of worms that will require fixing dozens of corner cases/code psths.

Question: Hi Justin, I just wanted to ask, not about the successes you've had, instead, if you could go back and do it again what would be the thing you would avoid doing?
Asked by Michael (1.136.31.x) on November 3 2024, 11:05am
Reply on November 4 2024, 2:15pm:
spend way less time and carbon on messing with cars and instead started running earlier.

Question: Are you the one that coded the js wah-wah in Reaper, it sounds awesome. I was able to edit it by adding spl1 to make the effect fully wet. It seems like when it comes to spectral effects, vst can't compete with jsfx. Not exaggerating but it's something I have noticed that small jsfx code as eq or to adjust the tone of an audio sounds better than most vsts I tried. This wah-wah effect I'm asking you about is an example.

IIRC I did but that was like 20 years ago.. anyway that would be easy to do as a VST it's some very basic DSP code. Glad you like it at any rate!

Question: do you consider you've been working faster these last years? As in I've seen you guys fix and implement some things to REAPER so quick I wonder if you guys even rest haha or it is that you know your code and style and needs so well it's been easier to implement stuff? The new render window is incredible, also some crossfade thing I just saw, so yeah, you've been on a roll! So cool that you love this proyect as much :D

Question: Hi Justin, a musician here :) I wanted to ask if there is any way to make super 8 be able to play midi files? So that for instance you insert different midi drum loops and that trigger a vst. Second question: I'd really would love to collaborate with you just for fun on some music, how can I get in touch with you musically (my email is danielj.golden.official@gmail.com). Ps don't worry that email has the biggest spam filter possible and is my main music email :)

Question: Hi, Justin, this free simple vu meter I have linked below uses little resources in reaper and I love how it works. However, I have been struggling to use ai to edit the code to display the maximum VU readout for Left and Right channels and hold the values indefinitely. Can you help me display the max vu readouts (not max sample peaks) and hold them indefinitely even when playback stops? redacted
