Question: What do you think is the best CPU these days (also with music production in mind)? Intel Ultra, AMD Ryzen, or Apple Silicon? If you were to buy (a) a laptop and (b) a desktop right now, what would you get?

    My 5 year old M1 MBA is still amazing to me, don't think I would change much about it. For a desktop though I'd probably go with a Ryzen, for variety.

I was originally considering a Ryzen 7 ThinkPad (T14), because for the same price of an MBA M4 16GB, 256GB, I can get a 32-64GB, 1-2TB ThinkPad (and I can run Linux in parallel). Not sure which of those would be faster, though. But maybe getting the lower speced M4 is enough and I could indeed consider getting a Ryzen desktop in addition (I was first also considering to get the Mac Mini in addition to the ThinkPad, so basically the other way aroun

    imo the big win of the M1 for mobile is the battery life which is very freeing. for desktop it's less meaningful, for me...
