Question: Do DAWs sound the same?

    yes and no. they all sum the same. but they have different default pan laws, different stock EQs/compressors, etc etc.

    then something is different; audio output subsystem (e.g. using ASIO or WASAPI exclusive mode will sound different than WASAPI shared or WaveOut etc), different samplerate, different pan law (this one sneaks up on people), etc. if done right, any DAW should send a bit-for-bit copy of the stereo file to the output. If it sounds different at that point, then it's placebo.
