If you were asked to rank the following programming languages from the one you like to use the most to the one you like the least, how would you rank them? c c++ c# java php lua javascript python VisualBasic go rust

I haven't really used C#, haven't used Java since the 90s (and eve then minimally), nor have I meaningfully used go or rust or VB. For the remaining languages (C C++ php lua and javascript) I'd say it really depends on what I'm working on. For writing applications then I'd prefer C++, if doing text processing then probably php (amusingly, here's a
header file which re-generates itself via php
), javascript is great for web page stuff and I've enjoyed writing things there. Lua is fine and nice in that its easily embedded and has very low runtime requirements. Python rubs me the wrong way both syntactically and in that it's hard to embed, and there are different versions and in general it feels like a mess to my soul which is weary of supply chain dependencies... complex question, complex answer?
