Question: Seeing a recent forum thread I wonder, does REAPER not have an auto-update feature on purpose (why?), or is it rather 'just didn't get round to implement it'?

There are some technological reasons (complex dealing with permissions on systems, etc), but in general I think not updating every time is a good thing for people. Maybe at some point we shall.
