Someone posted this: Do you think there’s such a problem? Lately I’ve mixed some live recordings and noticed that when doing multitrack mixing in REAPER, the sound while working in the DAW always feels like there’s a veil over it. The more tracks, the more obvious it gets. But after exporting, the audio is noticeably clearer and more detailed. After repeated testing, 32-bit float gives the best quality — nearly the same as the exported file — followed by 16-bit. The default 64-bit setting sounds a bit muddy

I think if you're going by feelings you're making a mistake... you should either quantify the differences using scientific process or A/B/X it to see if your perceptions are quantifiable...
