Question: Hello Justin. If you were to start making a codebase now for the long term, would you rely a lot on OS APIs for things that are not really required like GUI programming, or would you implement them more from scratch?

Hard to say, but given how I've spent decades writing stuff on top of the classic win32 API, I'd have to do that now. But if I was just starting out, no idea what I'd use.
