Question:
Just checking in to see if you're still writing code predominantly by hand (aside from the one offs like the ffmpeg conversion)?

absolutely! I only go near LLMs once in a while, usually when google/kagi fail to find me some info. also, I added ffmpeg 8.x and 9.x support by hand (they were relatively straightforward). In integrating some third party proof-of-concept code (win32 darkmode, linux ime support), I felt a little bit curious if they may have been partially produced by an LLM too, no offense to those authors if they didn't use one, but a lot of complexity that could be removed in both cases.

It's OK but still not great

any advice for someone feeling demoralised about software when the majority of the industry is full accelerationist? pretty bleak outlook for someone who is fundamentally opposed, woodworking sounding more and more appealing
