Question: Do you really think vim is as great as people make it out to be? Aren't modern windows IDEs just as good?
Asked by Will (24.234.128.x) on January 20 2011, 12:14pm
Reply on January 21 2011, 10:04am:
It depends on what you want to do. There's a lot in there, but you can say the same about emacs, I suppose. Suppose you want to convert a file from CRLF to LF, or vice versa? How would you do it in a modern IDE? Not having to move your hands off of the keyboard to the arrow keys etc is a huge win for vi, too, IMO. The concept of "as good" is flawed. It's about what works for you.
