I hope that it doesn't. If it ever did come up, ugh, I'd probably take a stand and spend a ton of money trying to invalidate software patents, which are generally crap (software is math, math isn't patentable, etc). Comment...

Milkdrop 1 is pretty much a hardware accelerated subset of AVS (though to be fair to Geiss, some of what was in Milkdrop was added to AVS later, etc). Generally AVS is way more capable, but also not hardware accelerated. Comment...

That depends on the code -- there are plenty of examples of terrible example code (code that provides more ambiguity than clarity), and also terrible documentation. So really it's the quality and thought that went into the thing, not what form it takes. Comment...
