Yeah, mostly mp3, and if I had to pick a lossless format I'd probably go wavpack.

Question: What's your web browser of choice, and why?
Asked by Stromboli (161.148.171.x) on July 29 2011, 12:04pm
Reply on July 29 2011, 1:57pm:
I think Chrome as of late. I like the unified URL/search bar, the native PDF support, flash support, the fact that it never prompts me to upgrade (firefox's upgrade-on-startup thing annoys the living crap out of me), etc...

Question: Will we see freeze in V4?
Asked by Luke (24.246.86.x) on July 27 2011, 10:38pm

(was "No comment") Edit: ok I'm actually fine with the stems rendering tbh. The reason for the no comment was that I dont want to encourage tons of REAPER FRs here.

Question: Have you consider to change reaper's release model from feature based to time based releases? just saying...
Asked by gio (62.103.65.x) on July 27 2011, 12:43am
Reply on July 27 2011, 3:54am:
Our normal cycle (i.e. 3.0 to 3.7x) is time based. Occasionally you need to go do deeper digging that requires a lot more time spent testing, so we like to reserve that for the big numbers. It does take a while, but it seems to be working OK. Time based releases make more sense to me if your software is integrating a lot of packages that are developed at their own pace.

The biggest factor is price, I'd say. Also being able to snapshot/replicate is very nice.

Personally I don't like it as a concept, I'd much rather render a stem and mute the old one, so I realize what I'm doing.

Question: are you taking any extra precautions in order to deal with heap fragmentation in reaper?
Asked by gio (62.103.65.x) on July 25 2011, 6:20pm
Reply on July 26 2011, 3:49am:
Other than avoiding excessive heap use, no..

REAPER does tend to use a lot of persistent buffers. WDL_HeapBuf, WDL_TypedBuf, etc, as members of classes, come in handy... and for things like queues we usually queue blocks and then store free blocks for later use.
