Question: What's the last 3 things you taught yourself to become a better programmer?
Asked by Will (24.234.85.x) on June 20 2012, 5:05pm
Reply on June 21 2012, 11:38pm:
    1) test your work, even if you think it's trivial. 2) test it some more before you push. 3) be prepared for it to not work right even if you think it did; you'll usually find this out within 24-48 hours after the release.

Question: Will reaper every be complete? I don't mean 100% but something close to that. What do you think how long will it take? :)
Asked by John (87.117.204.x) on June 20 2012, 10:38am
Reply on June 20 2012, 12:40pm:
I don't think "complete" really exists for software.

Question: tinyurl.com/bpken5c Why are you guys constantly ignoring these important MIDI features people point out over and over again?
Asked by midiot (193.198.68.x) on June 20 2012, 8:02am
Reply on June 20 2012, 12:41pm:
See the note at the top of this page, this question should not be asked here. Having said that, that thread isn't terribly helpful, the main thing I saw (quant 90% w/ 17% swing) is trivial to do, not sure why someone is complaining about that...

Question: Could you name the JSFX_to_VST app HolyGrail?
Asked by Dean (67.174.194.x) on June 19 2012, 6:13am
Reply on June 20 2012, 12:41pm:
Haha that'd be awesome. If we did make that it'd probably be a JSFX to C++ generator, and you'd have to compile that code into VST yourself...

Never, however if I were to estimate how many miles I've traveled by plane, it would probably be more than a few.

Question: How does it feel to once preserve CPUs (winamp) and the other to push at the limits (R); where's the most satisfaction? Hello Mr
Asked by gio (94.66.72.x) on June 15 2012, 4:59pm
Reply on June 17 2012, 1:51am:
It's most of the same sort of thing, really, just different constraints. REAPER does a lot more threading and load balancing than Winamp ever did, which is fun stuff.

Question: As an expert programmer please give your take on the errors (rounding/truncating) in digital summing vs electrical summing.
Asked by Isaac (76.4.180.x) on June 15 2012, 3:30am
Reply on June 17 2012, 1:50am:
64 bit FP is really quite accurate provided you're not accumulating millions of small numbers and expecting them to sum up to something exact... I can't say much for the electrical side, though.

They could potentially do the exact same thing, provided the XML definition supported logic etc, but personally I find XML hard to write by hand and even harder to parse with C.
