I know the basic rules, but never have gotten very good at either a) recognizing known patterns, or b) thinking more than a step ahead.

Question:
What is your take on Google's Vulnerability Reward Program and vulnerability brokerage in general?
Asked by Bob (95.154.230.x) on September 16 2012, 4:43pm

Haven't looked at it much, but it seems to make sense.

Question:
You think vendors should be (or atleast should feel) obliged to fix vulnerabilities? Or should software be "AS IS" w/o fixes?
Asked by Bobstillshort (93.174.93.x) on September 16 2012, 4:39pm
Reply on September 17 2012, 1:35pm:
I think that's up to the author and their license -- I can see arguments for both ways, and the license agreements should make it clear what the policy is and what users should expect, and likewise users should know what to look for.

Question:
What's your take on public vulnerable discloser if a vendor is already informed but still won't fix the vulnerability?
Asked by Bobtooshort (67.159.5.x) on September 16 2012, 4:33pm
Reply on September 17 2012, 1:34pm:
I think disclosing vulnerabilities if a vendor hasn't fixed in some decent amount of time (such as 90 days) is reasonable.

Question:
Many years ago on your .plan, you posted an asm snippet that was the secret sauce of nitrane's speed. What was that?

Reply on September 9 2012, 9:22pm:
No idea, URL or copy of the code? It was probably some MMX or 3DNow! specific stuff...

Been enjoying Menomena's first album a lot (especially the last track --
here it is, live, I wish I was there
!), now I've started to listen to their newer albums too.

Question:
Would you ever consider giving a "State of the REAPER address" a couple times per year?
Asked by Mommy (99.173.159.x) on September 8 2012, 3:04pm
Reply on September 8 2012, 7:10pm:
Sure, but I'm sure it would just disappoint most of the people who would bother to tune in, because I wouldn't talk about what they want me to talk about...

Thanks for the reply, Justin. Sorry for my older posts, but I hope you understand the frustration of us users on certain things.
Asked by Tinny (88.207.72.x) on September 8 2012, 1:03pm
Reply on September 8 2012, 7:10pm:
I do, but also believe that a certain amount of frustration in users is inevitable.

Question:
Is there a technical reason why feedback routing in Reaper disables PDC? Is there no way to make it work with PDC? Thanks!
Asked by Tinny (88.207.72.x) on September 7 2012, 4:32pm
Reply on September 7 2012, 5:26pm:
To be clear, it doesn't disable all PDC, just PDC for tracks that are in feedback loops. It can't be supported in feedback because you run into causality constraints -- if an effect needs to look ahead, but the coming samples are affected by the effect, etc.

Question:
1st) At which point{version} REAPER did everything you wanted to do? 2nd) Any interesting article you read lately? :)
Asked by gio (94.66.74.x) on September 6 2012, 7:38pm
Reply on September 7 2012, 1:24am:
Well my needs have grown as REAPER has, but I think around the first Christmas release (was it 0.42?) things were pretty usable for audio recording/editing.

A couple-to-a-few. There are some REAPER benefits, yeah, but also we have some friends who live in London.

Question:
What happened to the REAPER lounge?
Asked by Mommy (99.173.159.x) on September 4 2012, 11:39pm
Reply on September 5 2012, 9:13am:
We added a password which is not secret, but it effectively keeps threads in the lounge from polluting the search results and new thread lists for users who are not interested.

Question:
Are you ever worried about your source code being stolen? Which precautionary measures do you take?
Asked by Will (24.234.85.x) on August 31 2012, 4:22pm
Reply on September 2 2012, 9:34pm:
Not particularly-- I am generally way more concerned about source lost than source stolen... Our source wouldn't be of much use to a competitor, there's nothing really non-obvious about it.

Question:
You really think so? I guess there's no hope to see any of those listed features in Reaper anytime then? :(
Asked by Tinny (212.92.200.x) on August 28 2012, 7:53am
Reply on August 28 2012, 10:55am:
I wouldn't say that, but it's complicated. BTW look at the note at the top of this page.
