Question: Assuming you use one at all, what's your preferred music player when on Linux? I've struggled to find anything similar to our old friend Winamp - Amarok gets close but it's outdated and buggy.

Question: Are you familiar with VEGAS PRO? Sony abandoned its development way back in the day, and it's been under new management (Magix) since 2016. The code is 20 years old now, and though the software has huge potential (thanks to its still unmatched intuitive (and powerful) interface, it frankly needs to be re-written from the ground up, incorporating various new technologies. If the proper offer were presented to you, would you be interested to join such an endeavor?

I used to use Vegas v4-v6 back in the day. I'm happy working on REAPER though.

Question: Don't know how to force LICE's blit functions to work with source alpha, while Windows's Alphablend works and decided not to use libpng for now, it's very big, tough and cluttered, ended up using lodepng for now, what do you think about lodepng?
Asked by Pony (78.152.169.x) on April 10 2019, 8:54am
Reply on April 10 2019, 1:30pm:
LICE_BLIT_USE_ALPHA, probably. Though if I remember correctly, LICE's source alpha is not premultiplied, vs Windows API is. Lodepng looks cool but I haven't used it. Most things we make end up using zlib anyway so might as well share that code?

Question: Hi Justin. Your thoughts (yes / no / conditional) on free and universal sharing of academic knowledge/ science/ research and non fiction / academic books (ref. forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=...
Asked by Suleiman (14.201.3.x) on April 9 2019, 12:11pm
Reply on April 9 2019, 4:38pm:
Well obviously ideas/knowledge/concepts should be completely free. As far as copyrighted content, I think that most people who create copyrighted content generally are pretty reasonable about the policies of its distribution. Aggregators of content are less reasonable, typically, which isn't ideal.

Question: I have just start using Microsoft Visual Studio. And made some simple programs like calculator. Is it possible to make a full-fledged software (like REAPER) just with only Visual Studio, without using anything else? Or do I need something else also?

Reply on April 8 2019, 9:40pm:
Visual Studio is probably all you need, but I'd imagine you'd use various third party libraries to make things easier.

Question: 1. I'm currently working on a GetTracknumberByGuid-function for my API and noticed, that Breeder's GetTrackGuid-function from SWS returns a different guid for mastertracks(one with only 0 in it) than the "official" one. I want to make the function work 100%, so: how safe is it to take a guid returned by Breeder's function with all 0 in them? Is there a chance that such a guid will be given to another track at some point(even if it's unlikely)? 2. I also try to figure out, how to use the Render-Queue for re
