Question: Have you an idea for a programming project? Beginner to advanced. Ideally something which could serve as a showcase project for a job in IT. Thanks!

Question: Hey justin! In VSTs under reaper we can use the hostcb(&effect,0xdeadbeef,0xdeadf00e,request,NULL,0.0) dance to get various REAPER-specific contexts. Is there something like that available for CLAP plugins? Thanks!

Question: Hey Justin, from your experience, what is the delta between developers who ship and those who don't? Unintuitively there'll be devs who are wildly talented who don't ship, and less-talented devs who ship. Perfectionism? Confidence?

Question: My son's really into coding. He has gone from "Scratch," as a toddler, through "Python", and is now developing things on Unity. He loves music too, and I suggested perhaps he try to write a basic CLAP for learning purposes. Would you encourage this, and do you have any advice or gotchas to look out for?

It might be more fun to start with writing JSFX, as to not have to deal with all of the parts that are a pain.

No but there are a lot of global variables that represent the UI state. Increasingly these end up moved into ReaProject, eventually they all will and we'll allow multiple arrange views etc.

Question: Are there plans to allow GPU video rendering in Reaper? It is doable in the ffmpeg, but the commands don't work with Reaper.
Asked by Artur (187.19.173.x) on May 3 2023, 3:04pm
Reply on May 4 2023, 1:03am:
There are plans for the video processors, though on the encoder side ideally if you're using WMF or AVFoundation it should already be GPU-accelerated by the underlying framework. Not sure what it would take to get ffmpeg to use it.
