Question: What is Cockos' secret to not stepping on each others toes in the forum, or when developing software?
Asked by James (68.225.40.x) on June 13 2010, 3:56am

I think it's easy when you pretty much have the best job in the world, or feel like you do.. That and being polite and always considering that you might be wrong.. all good skills.

Reply on June 11 2010, 10:27pm:
Why, does it not download fast enough from my web site? the .torrent would likely be useless, since you'd be the only one downloading it...

Asked by Poop (67.88.171.x) on June 11 2010, 8:11am
Reply on June 11 2010, 3:43pm:
About a month, of course we spent a small fraction of our time on it. Most of that was spent designing LCF, octree palette generation, and getting the GIF writing optimized.

Question: What's the recipe for a kick ass (reaper like) windows divider/splitter?
Asked by _gio (62.103.65.x) on June 8 2010, 11:58pm
Reply on June 9 2010, 8:50am (edited at June 9 2010, 10:55am):
Hmm, well for the resizing of children you might want to look at WDL's wingui/wndsize.h... Then, if you want to make it user resizeable, you could paint your own control in the right place, and if a WM_LBUTTONDOWN happens there, SetCapture(), handle WM_MOUSEMOVE, etc.

Question: When coding with WaitForSingleObject, do you prefer waiting INFINITE-ly or just giving a time-out value?
Asked by dave (222.90.231.x) on June 6 2010, 7:17pm
Reply on June 6 2010, 8:25pm:
Usually I either wait INFINITE or I wait for a certain amount of time (say, 10ms, but that of course depends on the context) and check the return value to see if it is WAIT_OBJECT_0.

Question: Who codes what for Reaper? Does someone work on larger features for major releases while another person does the smallerupdates?
Asked by Ryan (96.49.43.x) on June 6 2010, 5:38pm
Reply on June 6 2010, 8:27pm:
We all do pretty much everything, though Christophe does most video related things. There is no division based on complexity of feature, though we do informally pick our tasks based on relative expertise and code familiarity. Having said that, most features end up having had multiple people worked on them, as we all try to use REAPER and make sure that changes/addition fit in with our visions of the program...

I have 3 of the classic, 1995 era, PS-2 MS Natural Keyboard (non-Elite), as seen here:

(Thanks, Steve G, for giving me the third one). I think I got my 2 in 1997 or so, so 13 years and counting, no problems with any of them.

Question: I d/l a cd-rip which seems quiet. mp3gain claims it's -90dB. Other "louder" mp3s also show -90dB. How could that be?
Asked by John (24.234.128.x) on June 2 2010, 3:29pm
Reply on June 2 2010, 4:08pm:
Is the -90dB value the "noise floor"? I'm not too familiar with mp3gain, but generally if -90dB was the peak value, it would be pretty much inaudible.
