Question: I have Dell Inspiron 1012 Mini, which is a very old laptop came with Windows XP. 1 GB Ram. Atom processor. I upgraded to Windows 7 for Google Meet. But it's stuttering & lagging too much. What should I do? Is there any way to run Google Meet in Windows XP? Or in Ubuntu or any other Linux? My main priority is Google Meet running in any browser. Or is there any app for it which can run in XP or 7 or any Linux?

Question: so,iyo.. should we judge a nations "wealth" upon corrupt fractional reserve banking/fiat currencies and associated ideologies,OR, by the health of the land/sea inhabitants and the current state of mineral/biodiversities?
Asked by unnamed1 (2.26.163.x) on November 9 2021, 7:45pm
Reply on November 10 2021, 1:29am (edited at November 10 2021, 1:39am):
(edited): There's an awful lot of opinion in that question, which I won't begin to unpack. Having said that, I imagine if judging was done purely in the abstract, should include the nation's debts to the rest of the planet (e.g. CO2 emissions, past damage, etc etc), its own people, etc etc, but if judging for any practical purposes then the metric would need to be relevant to the practical purpose being considered.

Question: what drove you to create reaper and winamp?
Asked by Fishy (5.13.107.x) on November 2 2021, 5:08pm
Reply on November 2 2021, 8:06pm:
I started playing around with music players on DOS a few years before I saw my first mp3 (see: http://1014.org/code/oldbits/DACE/ )... The drive was to listen to music on the computer, since it was cool and mod/xm players were awesome too. I started getting into music and recording in the early 00s, which led to REAPER :)

Question: These's a funny thing in Chinese group, sort of a consensus. I want to ask Justin to confirm it. If someone want a new function or improve some function in REAPER. Before we post a Feature Request, we will talk about if Justin need it. Is REAPER's function depend on Justin's hobby or needs? Is that true?
Asked by littleTee (116.23.172.x) on November 2 2021, 7:38am
Reply on November 2 2021, 8:05pm:
If it's something I want to use then that's a plus, but we do add plenty of things that I wouldn't use (I use a small percentage of the features day to day)

Question: hi Justin.. how feasable would it be to train a neural net using lots of video/audio of drummers playing to learn to follow tempo ? then use camera/mic on a live drummer as the input to get music software like reaper to follow the human playing live ? seems like the ai already driving cars is demonstrating abilities beyond what would be needed to follow a human drummer.. not asking as a request just wondering your thoughts.. would it be feasable, good/bad idea etc ?
Asked by EcBaPr (119.18.1.x) on November 1 2021, 9:52am
Reply on November 1 2021, 2:23pm:
I don't do much with machine learning stuff but I imagine it'd be easier to just write heuristics or use triggers and learn from the MIDI results...

Question: Question from programmer (beginner) to programmer (experienced):) Is it possible to combine programming and family? How much time does the work take? Is it hard to switch between creative ideas and common home tasks? Do you have any tips on family time management? Sorry, if my question is silly, but I find that programming is taking too much time, and if it doesn't take all the time, you can't have a finished program
Asked by Alex K. (95.82.125.x) on October 31 2021, 7:46pm
Reply on November 1 2021, 12:42am:
It can be challenging balancing programming and other life, sometimes I spend my time washing dishes and contemplating a programming problem, things like that. And context-switching is difficult, getting asked a question while deep in other thoughts and getting your brain to even process the words can be slow. But as long as you can devote _some_ time to programming, it's enough to keep things moving forward?

Question: Is there a place I can find all OSC messages reaper interprets ? I know about the files at AppDataRoamingREAPEROSC. I normally read them to find OSC message, what I am questioning is if there are more things implemented that are not there, and if so are they documented anywhere?
Asked by DdSL (186.210.30.x) on October 31 2021, 4:23pm
Reply on November 1 2021, 12:41am:
The default.ReaperOSC I think lists all of the possible kinds of messages, though some are probably commented out... The exact format is defined by the .ReaperOSC format, though.

Question: How much work is it to add new Api-functions? Do you need to do special adjustments for the different languages supported or is it quite streamlined?
