Question: What led to JSFX install no longer being optional? I didn't see any discussion about the change.
Asked by Erin (75.15.159.x) on December 10 2021, 5:54pm
Reply on December 10 2021, 8:33pm:
People who had it mistakenly unchecked and wanted to know why the JSFX loudness meter wasn't there, etc. Contemplating bringing it back but making it always enabled by default, but other platforms don't have this option anyway...

No, but I also don't like having telling people what to do so I've failed in that way with some people.

Question: EEL2: Could you give me a hint where to look at if I want to add sections (@mysection) and descriptions (myslider:10)? Thanks
Asked by Gio (94.70.4.x) on December 7 2021, 5:56pm
Reply on December 7 2021, 6:20pm:
Those are JSFX language features, EEL2 itself doesn't have sections or attributes. We are preparing to release the JSFX source (likely LGPL), but it will probably be a few months before it is ready.

Question: Just started getting into recording/production using Reaper. My background is in networking/servers, but about 5 years ago I switched into data analytics, and use Python a lot, so I'm at least intermediate level with that. Question: I would like to start exploring how to write plug-ins and other audio related software. Any recommendations, resources, tips what to do (and not to do), regarding how/where to get started?
Asked by Dean (71.115.202.x) on December 4 2021, 5:11pm
Reply on December 4 2021, 11:04pm:
Despite your proficiency in Python, its integration with REAPER is really poor when compared to Lua or EEL2, so I'd suggest you start with Lua. Learning more languages is a good thing, anyway :) Not sure where the best starting point is, though.
