Question:
So I am thinking of adding a real time ninjam chat in my ninjam API via the socket connection (much how Jamtaba and ReaNINJAM has their chat). I want to perform this function via JavaScript if possible, like if you understand how WebSocket works, so all it do is when it receives chat input, javascript will perform simple instructions when it receives any new messages from the chat. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this correctly, but is it possible to do that with Ninjam? If so, is it compatible with jquery?
Asked by David (96.224.215.x) on March 31 2020, 10:59pm
Reply on April 1 2020, 2:29pm:
You could probably implement some ninjam server interaction in javascript using websockets, but I have no experience with bare TCP connections from javascript.

Question:
How many third party plugins (both Virtual Instruments & Effects) do you use? And what are they? Also, whichever 3rd party plugin(s) you use, if they are already in REAPER, why not using the REAPER ones? Or if they are not present at the moment, why not you add them in REAPER? As you said in your previous post that "Adding a new feature that I really want to use and then using it is probably the most satisfying."
Asked by Three Parties (178.128.104.x) on March 31 2020, 8:58am
Reply on March 31 2020, 10:22pm:
About the only thing I use that isn't built-in REAPER is Pianoteq... It would be nice to have something like it in REAPER, yes. But where does one begin there? :)

Is world really ending? If not, will Hollywood make another, as usual, "end of the world" movie about this virus pandemic?

Obviously it's not ending, but it's changing.

Question:
Will there be a new REAPER 6 forum theme? Also, why default forum theme is REAPER 3? Why not 5? Why there is no 4 theme there?

Reply on March 31 2020, 10:22pm:
5 is the default I think? It's a lot of work to make a new theme so meh

Question:
Does REAPER import/export configuration has backup for everything I can do in REAPER? Like downloading custom icons for using in my custom toolbars, tweaking themes (like changing colors, icons etc.), all the things I tweak in preferences menu, all my layouts (like I have two custom toolbars, in upper side and in right side), all my custom actions etc.? Does it also backup external stuffs like themes, fonts which I download from stash? So, if I uninstall and reinstall REAPER, will I lose anything?
Asked by Abhi (122.161.218.x) on March 30 2020, 6:39pm
Reply on March 30 2020, 9:36pm:
The easiest way is to test this. Generally yes, though I'm sure there are exceptions.

Question:
Any way to sync reaper playback to Ninjam? (e.g. for having a drum loop)?
Asked by David (84.169.98.x) on March 30 2020, 4:08pm
Reply on March 30 2020, 9:35pm:
No but I suppose we could add a "start REAPER playback on next 1-beat" could be doable, but it would be approximate (not a perfect sync).

Question:
What do you like better? Adding a new feature or fixing a bug in REAPER?
Asked by Abhi (122.161.218.x) on March 30 2020, 2:55pm
Reply on March 30 2020, 9:34pm:
It depends. Adding a new feature that I really want to use and then using it is probably the most satisfying.

Question:
Do you use custom toolbars and/or custom actions (macros) in REAPER? If yes, can you tell us what kind of custom toolbars and/or custom actions you use? :)
Asked by Abhi (182.68.97.x) on March 29 2020, 4:21pm
Reply on March 29 2020, 4:54pm:
Toolbars occasionally, I do have some custom actions that I use (and re-create if needed). The one I mostly use is (and map Cmd+1 or Ctrl+1 to): "go to start of time selection" / "remove contents of time selection". I find that pair very useful for editing long jams (removing a section, then eventually finding a new edit point, and setting the time selection end there before removing it again)

Please help me. Sometimes Reaper forum really doesn't open here. It shows your IP has been banned, contact admin or something like. But for now, it is opening. And I have made an account in reaper forum yesterday. And tried to post yesterday, but it shows " you do not have permission to access this page". Still today. How can I post in forum then?

Hey man! Thank you for making Reaper software. I really love the customization thing. Are you making more icons so that we can make more custom toolbars with lots of cool different varieties of icons?

Question:
Why movies are in 23.9 fps? Why not 24 fps? Or 30 fps (most common, I guess?) Or even 60 fps? Do you like to watch a movie in 60 fps?
Asked by Abhi (182.68.60.x) on March 28 2020, 6:59am
Reply on March 28 2020, 8:58pm:
Film has traditionally been shot at 24fps. My understanding is that they set the framerate for films to 23.98fps because it makes converting to 29.97fps for NTSC easier. AFAICR, 29.97 exists because when they were adding color to NTSC (which was 30fps in black/white), they had to adjust the carrier frequency to avoid harmonics from the color signal from interfering. Fun fact: you can play 24fps content at 23.98 or 23.98fps content at 24 and it looks about the same! ;)

Question:
can we post reaper feature request, bugs, in forum, and post the link here? what is scheduling means?
Asked by the flying guitar (107.170.127.x) on March 28 2020, 6:57am
Reply on March 28 2020, 8:55pm:
You can post in the forums, but don't post links here. Scheduling means timing, roughly.
