Question: Which part of REAPER are you most proud of?
Asked by d34db33f (213.127.26.x) on May 6 2020, 11:18am
Reply on May 6 2020, 7:15pm:
The terrible MIDI-ticks-to-audio-sample rounding code from 2008 that has the stupid +0.5+0.000001 constant in there. Oh you said *most* proud of? Ah that's harder to answer... I dunno, there are a thousand things in there that I'm slightly proud of, but nothing jumps out.
Question: Bill gates..love or hate?? +what do you think about his* medical advices lately?
Asked by 2020 (95.151.177.x) on May 5 2020, 11:10pm
Reply on May 6 2020, 3:49am:
I think it's ludicrous that people are anti-Gates at this point. 20 years ago, sure...
Question: Why don't you make electronic music? Just buy Komplete Ultimate and imo, you don't need anything else. Also you can experiment mixing your rock/pop music genre with electronic instruments as I do (though all my instruments, even the rock/pop one, are electronic, and it actually sounds out of the world. Have you ever heard guitar in a edm/trance music? That's what I do, lol. Experimenting different different stuffs until it sounds good.
Asked by Abhi (117.234.175.x) on May 5 2020, 3:25am
Reply on May 5 2020, 5:07pm:
I'm not hugely into electronic music, so me making it would be sort of stupid.
Question: With all the current hype around darkmode: When will you ease our eyes and introduce darkmode on landoleet? ;)
Asked by Mespotine (2.247.250.x) on May 5 2020, 1:33am
Reply on May 5 2020, 2:10am:
That's up to your browser, landoleet has no color information.
Question: Did you get a chance to watch the latest Mr. Robot series? I liked it - as it was more like season 1. But, who the f@ck is the real Elliot??? Do you know? I am lost HaHa - I Probably need to watch it all again, unless you know and can save me the time ;).. But, new Killing Eve is on! Love British dark comedy ;). Do you have a favourite British show? Like say-Red Dwarf, Black Mirror or Fawlty Towers etc...
Asked by SheenCharles (102.165.20.x) on May 3 2020, 4:20pm
Reply on May 4 2020, 2:42am:
I did enjoy Mr Robot, though the first and second seasons I thought were my favorite. Favorite British shows include W1A and The Thick of It. Black Mirror is great too. Detectorists was also really nice.
Question: Do you enjoy making your own JSFX?.Even in secret like - for personal/close family use only, not for Rea community? I am really enjoying General Dynamics and that Spectral Hold FX you did - Blooming great, best yet ;).- Or do you just, say, meh!..''they are alright, want to add a FR or something more important instead like'' Also, are you mates, acquaintances or affiliated with the guy from MeldaProductions? You guys are both great at what you do and in the same generation gap hey? Their new Superlooper seems great and x3 prettier ;)
Asked by Stargirl (107.181.189.x) on May 2 2020, 1:18pm
Reply on May 3 2020, 2:05am (edited at May 3 2020, 2:07am):
I do enjoy using the JSFX I make, but if I make it and it's useful then I try to include it w/ REAPER. I email routinely with Melda (compatibility etc), I know they use REAPER so maybe super8 had some influence on MSuperlooper, but you'd have to ask them. It's been fun adapting super8 for grid-based use (project BPM adapting, project sync, etc) vs the freeform original use for live improv...

Question: NINJAM is picking up in popularity. What do you think about that?
Asked by David (96.224.215.x) on April 30 2020, 11:31pm
Reply on May 3 2020, 2:05am:
Sorry that it is under such circumstances!
Question: Do you know Lights? If not, then here are 4 best songs of her. Maybe this is new genre for you, but I definitely think you will like at least two songs. All songs sound pleasant and uplifting and makes me happy - justpaste.it/5zpmp

I haven't, but I just listened to the new Fiona Apple album and liked it.
Question: For C++ extensions to draw LICE graphics inside REAPER windows, plain subclassing works well on Windows, Linux, and on macOS when “Optimized drawing” is DISabled. (I.e. when WM_PAINT is received, first InvalidateRect and call original WinProc, then blit LICE bitmap into windowDC.) But on macOS with optimized drawing ENabled, there are glitches – and sometimes the blitted image is not visible at all. Is there a clever trick to getting this to work? (What goes on under the hood with optimized drawing?)

Question: What's your favourite Minor scale? Natural, Melodic (ascending) or Harmonic? Have you made a music in pure minor scale?
Asked by Abhi (106.212.145.x) on April 28 2020, 3:51am
Reply on April 28 2020, 8:26pm:
I dunno I don't really pay attention to what scales things actually end up being in (keys, sure, scales less so)
Question: What if we double the frames in a 30 fps video? Will it become a 60 fps video? And also smooth?
Asked by Abhi (110.227.149.x) on April 27 2020, 5:24pm
Reply on April 28 2020, 8:27pm:
It will, but not be smooth. To do smooth you'd have to do some inter-frame prediction or something
Question: Setting the HWND parameter to null when calling KBD_OnMainActionEx() ... does it mean it relates to the currently focused window or REAPER's main window?
Asked by helgoboss (84.59.97.x) on April 27 2020, 3:01pm
Reply on April 28 2020, 8:28pm:
We don't actually look at that HWND, but it is passed to hooks registered with "hookcommand2".
Question: I have tried REAPER ReWorked. It's really good. Bring lots of hidden features into the limelight. And everything is very much organized. Have you tried that? Any comment about that?
Asked by Abhi (182.64.173.x) on April 27 2020, 7:58am

    I haven't.

Oh it's just a stupid play on all of the "justin case" "justin time" etc jokes
Question: Portable installation is so good. Why you guys still give us the normal installation? Isn't it better we all to switch to portable installation? Any disadvantage portable installation has over normal installation? I recently tested portable installation and found it great. Now I am switching my main REAPER into portable one.
Asked by Abhi (182.68.65.x) on April 25 2020, 8:24am
Reply on April 25 2020, 9:26pm:
Most people prefer to have all of the system integration stuff, it seems. The only real things I can think of that require installation, though, are ReWire and ReaRoute.
Question: You have too much knowledge of programming, music and REAPER obviously. Why not consider sharing your knowledge with everyone on YouTube? ;) maybe you will get 10 million subscribers someday? Maybe you will beat PewDiePie too? XD

Question: Hey- on the reaper6 index page (and more....) -it shows gifs for what's new and at the bottom for the themes etc. What movie is that clip from? :)
Asked by 2020 (95.149.70.x) on April 24 2020, 3:02pm

It's from the intro to the TV show UFO :)
Question: Touchscreen is future! Is REAPER touch-ready? Now, some people (maybe including you?) will say that touchscreen in laptop isn't good? Yeah it's not good in normal laptops, but in flip (2-in-1 hybrid laptop + tablet) laptops, having touch screen operations is very good. ANOTHER QUESTION - what daw controller and midi keyboard do you have? I have read that there is a controller specific for REAPER? Is this correct? Any suggestions? Also, do you use 16-pad MIDI controller??
Asked by TouchIsFuture (178.62.89.x) on April 23 2020, 4:06pm
Reply on April 24 2020, 12:32am:
I do use it with a touchscreen on my C101 chromebook a decent amount, works well! I mostly use a keyboard and mouse, though I have an Akai MPK mini which I use for drum pads, and a hacked up m-audio keyboard for piano playing. I don't recommend either of them, though.
