Question: why is it still experimental native dark mode(reaper) on mac os?
Asked by ape din (188.172.110.x) on November 14 2023, 11:58am

Yeah I guess it could be allowed... macOS does all sorts of weird different things in dark mode, but should be fine.

Question: In an interview from 2010, you mentioned the importance of being able to separate signal from noise when choosing tasks to work on. Given that you probably have limitless ideas for improving your software (not to mention community submissions), do you have a way of determining what to focus on and in what order (if any)?

Question: Respected Justin, I've heard that ReaMote is no longer supported by V7 due to certain issues. I'd like to explain our situation. While we didn't use the CPU stress reduction feature much for previous stereo creations, it's become crucial for our immersive sound production. The increase in CPU pressure, particularly for 7.1.4 beds and more objects, has surpassed 20 times. Without ReaMote, we'd genuinely struggle. Are there any plans for alternative features? Your assistance is crucial for our music creation

Question: Just saw this article. Great to see Ninjam getting more well-deserved attention! Thank you again for making this technology... it's allowed friends and me to make a lot of fun noise for over 16 years now :-)

Question: Do you feel pressure of having to maintain good public image, to meet certain expectations and to conform to cetrain standards when interacting online under your government name? Do you use anonymous accounts where you let lose?

I assume that posting anonymous anywhere is not, in fact, anonymous. Having said that, I don't feel much pressure to behave a certain way, other than the normal filter of polite behavior.

Question: I'll start by apologizing, but I think only you can give me a straight answer. I make high-resolution recordings at rates up to 352.8kHz. In Reaper, under project settings, there is a dialog box that comes disabled, making Reaper assume the rate of my interface. I did the test, set my interface to 352.8kHz and Reaper took over the sample rate with no apparent problems. So, I'd like to know if everything is OK, if it's OK to use Reaper at these rates or if the limit is really 192kHz. to be continued...

If the hardware supports these sample rates then you should be good! Why you need that many samples is another question entirely...

Question: Why starting reaper on windows is a blitz compared to macOS?
Asked by Ape Din (188.164.221.x) on November 6 2023, 7:26pm
Reply on November 6 2023, 8:03pm:
Hmm it starts pretty quick on macOS too but you can speed it up some by disabling the splash screen animation. On Windows we use a separate thread to update the splash screen but we don't do that on macOS.

Question: after reading source.opennews.org/articles/audio.... am wondering state of play today. As well as webaudio there's websockets, webrtc, kafka... and perhaps more! does ninjam use any of these, or are any of these particularly beneficial if trying to emulate some sort of web-ninjam machine? (Think of an inter-connected network of local supercollider sessions, with the ability to receive (and maybe send) audio resources via webaudio client apps, if that helps / makes any sense! ✌

for playback things are great (all my stuff uses a tiny bit of javascript to do useful things)... but for low latency and multiprocessing it's not inspiring to me. Things may be possible via web workers and whatnot but it would be a pain to do much. Native software ftw still.

Question: hey jf- is there a fast, simple method to doing video "null tests" with reaper? (as 1 would with 2 audio sources.. =wanting to compare video formats to check differences) >thanx
Asked by 2023 (86.137.198.x) on November 4 2023, 3:28pm
Reply on November 4 2023, 5:49pm:
You could write a video processor that subtracts frames and amplifies any residual, sure. But you'd rarely get a full null if re-encoding...
